It should be noted that the spellings paralyse and paralyze are both used by Canadian writers. However, there is a growing trend among Canadians to opt for the ending -yze for such words as paralyze, analyze, catalyze and dialyze.
- During the robbery, the victims were paralyzed (or paralysed) with fear.
