Along these lines, meaning “in this way” or “of this type,” is an overworked phrase and should be avoided, especially in formal writing. Replace with phrases such as in this way, in this manner, of this sort, on this topic or concerning this matter.

  • Action of this sort (not along these lines) is recommended.
