To grill someone is to interrogate that person.

  • The police detective grilled the suspect about her activities on the previous Tuesday.
  • Teenagers coming home at 3 a.m. often get a grilling from their parents.

A grille is a decorative metal screen.

  • By the end of the day, thousands of dead insects were stuck to the grille of our new camper.
