When naming the first element in something, use the preposition with.
- Hamlet begins with the words “Who’s there?”
- I hope Céline will begin the show with a romantic song.
The expression to begin with is equivalent to the phrase “in the first place”.
- To begin with , I want to welcome you all to the Canada Day celebrations.
