L’expression perte totale appartient au vocabulaire de l’assurance et indique qu’une personne a tout perdu :
- En cas de perte totale, la compagnie d’assurance vous remboursera.
Ni un immeuble, ni une voiture ne peuvent être une perte totale.
Selon le contexte, il faut plutôt dire :
- La voiture a été complètement démolie.
- L’incendie a complètement rasé l’immeuble.
- L’incendie a complètement détruit l’immeuble.
