Upcoming, spelled as one word, is an overused adjective that can be replaced by such synonyms as coming, next, forthcoming, approaching or about to happen.
- We will need extra copies of that paper for the next (upcoming) meeting.
- There are other interviews scheduled in the coming (not upcoming) week.
