Redundancies are words that unnecessarily repeat information. Because a prerequisite is a necessary prior condition, the modifier necessary in the familiar expression necessary prerequisite is redundant.
- Managing the environmental conditions for eels has become a prerequisite (not necessary prerequisite) for the second stage of development.
