L’expression bloc appartements, couramment employée au Canada, est un calque de l’anglais apartment block. On doit lui préférer les expressions immeuble d’habitation ou immeuble résidentiel.
- Il a hérité d’un immeuble d’habitation.
- De nouveaux immeubles résidentiels remplaceront ce centre commercial.
Employé seul, le mot bloc peut avoir le sens de « groupe d’immeubles » et, par extension, d’« immeuble groupant plusieurs appartements » :
- Elle habite dans le bloc situé près du parc.
