Le mot tranche est un canadianisme au sens de « machine servant à rogner le papier ». On peut aussi employer coupe-papier (invariable).
Le terme massicot est plutôt utilisé en Europe.
La tranche est aussi :
- un terme utilisé en imprimerie qui désigne la partie rognée des feuillets d’un livre
- un outil de ferronnerie servant à trancher le métal
