The adjective sympathetic is followed by the preposition to or towards.One may be sympathetic to or toward(s) a person, an idea, a cause, a proposal, etc.
- Hans is sympathetic toward(s) victims of car accidents but is not sympathetic to the idea of cameras being installed at intersections.
