Although they have a similar meaning, the words procedure and process are not interchangeable.
A procedure is a set way of doing something. It stresses the method or routine followed.
- A procedure exists for having complaints investigated.
A process is a series of progressive and interdependent steps carried out to obtain a particular result.
- The article describes the process for producing methane from pig manure.
