The noun phosphorus refers to the chemical element that glows in the dark and burns when in contact with oxygen.
- This iron ore contains very little phosphorus.
The adjective phosphorous means “of, relating to or containing phosphorus.”
- Since the chemical processes used to treat phosphorous iron ore cause pollution, they are being replaced with other methods.
