laud, laudable, laudatory

The verb laud means to praise.

  • Halina’s efforts to find accommodations for the homeless were lauded by the Calgary Herald.

The adjective laudable means worthy of praise.

  • The animal rights movement has undertaken many laudable (praiseworthy) projects.

The adjective laudatory refers to expressing praise.

  • You’ll make me blush if you continue with your laudatory (not laudable) remarks.
