ideal, more ideal, most ideal

Ideal is an absolute and therefore cannot be compared. As a result, the comparative and superlative forms more ideal and most ideal should be avoided in writing and in speech.

  • Prince Edward Island is an ideal vacation spot in summer.
  • You could not find a better (not more ideal) place for your honeymoon.
  • We found the ideal (not most ideal) site to build a cottage.
