Do not hyphenate the phrasal verb follow up.

Follow up means to continue or to pursue, develop or supplement information.

  • Jamal followed up with a strong shot past the goalkeeper.
  • I hope you will follow up on her idea soon.
  • Follow that up with the chief of detectives, please.

Follow up also means to carry out further investigation.

  • The investigating officer followed up on the anonymous tip.
