capitalization: single letters used as words

Capitalize a single letter used as a word, whether or not it is attached by a hyphen to another word:

  • C Minor
  • H-bomb
  • T-shirt
  • U-turn
  • vitamin A
  • X-ray

Exception: The letter e meaning “electronic” does not take a capital when used as a prefix: e-publishing, e-book, etc.
