Celebrate Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie

The Language Portal of Canada is a proud partner of the 22nd annual Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, being held from March 1 to 31, 2020. This year’s theme is the environment, and topics such as climate change and the social, community and cultural aspects of the environment will be the focus. Check out the various activities on the event calendar and put your language knowledge to the test by taking part in one of the contests sponsored by the Language Portal of Canada.

Write It Right! contest

From March 1 to 31, take part in the Write It Right! contest! Two spelling challenges are available: one for elementary school students (in French only) and one for the general public.

Spelling challenge for elementary schools

The Write It Right! spelling challenge for elementary schools is in the form of a comic strip and is open to all elementary school students in Canada. In this year’s contest, you’ll meet Ina and Lucas, who are introducing their brand new invention to their friends: Robert, le robot vert.

Prize: Participating in the contest gives you a chance to win $1,000 for your school.

Spelling challenge for the general public

The Write It Right! spelling challenge for the general public is open to all Canadian residents. This year’s challenge focuses on the environment and looks at some of the initiatives taken by Canadian Francophones to fight climate change.

Prize: Participating in the contest gives you a chance to win $1,000!

AtMOTSphere contest

To participate in the AtMOTSphere contest, which runs from March 1 to 31, you have to correctly answer the language questions in three quizzes on the theme of the environment:

  • Quiz 1: Weather Alert!
  • Quiz 2: “Geo” Words
  • Quiz 3: Green Riddle

You must provide the correct answers in order for your entry to be eligible. To help you out, the Language Portal team has given you a clue in each quiz. Don’t hesitate to consult them! You may submit one entry form a day for each quiz.

Prize: Participating in the contest gives you a chance to win a trip for two to Geneva, Switzerland. The prize includes airfare with Air Canada, five nights’ accommodation (double occupancy) and $500 in spending money per person.
