
The Language Portal of Canada is a proud partner of the 27th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), which will be held from March 1 to 31, 2025. This year’s theme, “Cultivate your roots,” highlights the vibrancy of Francophone culture, which flourishes when experiences and knowledge are passed on through the strong bonds uniting families, communities and generations. Check out the many activities on the RVF program, and put your language knowledge to the test by taking part in the contests developed by the Language Portal of Canada!

“Comme on dit par chez nous” contest
Attachez vot’ tuque! Test your linguistic knowledge and explore some expressions from Canada’s Francophonie with the “Comme on dit par chez nous” contest, which runs from February 27 to March 31, 2025.
You can submit two entries per day: one in English and one in French. To double your chances, click on the hints that lead to the Language Portal of Canada website!
Prize: You could win a trip for two to anywhere in Canada!
The prize includes transportation courtesy of Air Canada and $2000 spending money.

“Mots en couleurs” contest for elementary students
Do you teach French at an elementary school? Until March 31, 2025, have your class enter the “Mots en couleurs” contest. This year, there are three ways to participate!
- Colour the comic strip: Ask your students to colour the comic strip according to the instructions provided. Your students can also circle the correct French word in each pair of bolded words.
- Create your own story: Ask your students to create their own story in French by filling in the empty speech bubbles.
- Choose the correct word: Ask your students to click on the correct French word in each pair of bolded words in the online comic strip. If you prefer to do this activity on paper, you can also download the comic strip designed for colouring.
Prize: The Language Portal of Canada and the Les libraires network invite you to enter the “Mots en couleurs” contest for a chance to win one of two $500 prizes for the purchase of books!

“Neurones francophones” contest for secondary students
Do you teach French at a secondary school? This March, help your students explore Canada’s Francophonie with a quiz created by the Language Portal of Canada.
To participate, select the questions from each subject area that are most appropriate for your students, and do the quiz online or on paper.
Prize: You could win $1000 toward a special activity for the students in your classes or your school and a box of books for your classroom or school library!

From March 1 to 31, the Bureau will be partnering with the Dialogue Network for the 27th edition of this eagerly awaited, jam-packed celebration. Events will be held across the country under the theme “Cultivate your roots.”
Through the work of the Language Portal of Canada, Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Translation Bureau is delighted to contribute to the RVF, a not-to-be-missed event for Francophones and Francophiles of all ages. The Bureau encourages you to take part in the exciting festivities promoting Francophone culture.
Join us, and cultivate your roots by attending the many events taking place. And remember to enter the various contests, including “Comme on dit par chez nous,” “Mots en couleurs” and “Neurones francophones”!
