There’s no doubt that colourful language can help liven up a text. But overusing clichés is never a good idea. Test your knowledge with this quiz that’s stuffed with food-related clichés.

1. My boss is a hard Placeholder for the answer to crack.
2. He knows I don’t enjoy doing the annual report; it’s just not my cup of Placeholder for the answer.
3. Now, I don’t expect life to be a bowl of Placeholder for the answer.
4. But it’s Placeholder for the answer for him to come up to me and say, "What’s eating you?" As if he doesn’t know!
