Ce verbe désigne en droit le fait de poursuivre qqn en justice : « Le créancier est en droit d’actionner les héritiers de son débiteur. » La tournure passive est aussi d’un emploi courant : « Dans cette espèce, le propriétaire d’un fonds était actionné en dommages-intérêts par le vendeur d’un héritage voisin. »
Syntagmes
- Actionner qqn en justice, actionner devant le tribunal.
- Actionner le débiteur (en paiement d’une somme).
- Être actionné (en responsabilité civile).
- Faire actionner qqn.
