vive/vivent

Le mot vive vient du verbe vivre.

Dans une formule d’acclamation, on emploie plus souvent le singulier vive, même accompagné d’un nom au pluriel :

  • Vive les gens heureux!
  • Vive le Canada!

Suivi d’un nom pluriel, vivent au pluriel est aussi accepté :

  • Vivent les jours de congé!
  • Vivent les nouveaux mariés!
