Le mot romance au sens d’« aventure amoureuse » est un anglicisme à remplacer, selon le contexte, par :
- amour
- aventure
- histoire/roman d’amour
- idylle
- liaison (amoureuse)
- passion
- relation amoureuse
Exemples
- Johanne et Richard ont vécu une belle histoire/un beau roman d’amour. (et non : une belle romance)
- Il a une aventure/liaison amoureuse avec sa voisine. (et non : Il a une romance avec sa voisine.)
- Leur idylle/relation amoureuse n’a duré que quelques semaines. (et non : Leur romance n’a duré que quelques semaines.)
- Ils ont vécu un amour secret/une passion secrète pendant plusieurs années. (et non : une romance secrète)
