Le mot rollerblade est un dérivé de la marque de commerce Rollerblade. On doit l’éviter dans la langue écrite pour rendre l’anglais roller skate, roller blade ou inline skate.
Au Canada, on emploie le terme patin à roues alignées :
- Je possède deux paires de patins à roues alignées.
- Je fais du patin à roues alignées. (le sport)
En France, le terme roller(s) est courant.
