Le verbe remercier se construit avec les prépositions de et pour. Cependant, devant un infinitif, de s’impose :
- Je vous remercie de m’avoir si bien accueilli.
Devant un nom abstrait, la préposition de paraît préférable :
- Je vous remercie de votre attention.
Pour est peut-être plus expressif, en particulier devant des choses concrètes :
- Ma mère vous remercie pour vos fleurs.
La distinction n’est cependant pas toujours respectée.
