La locution en progrès s’emploie pour indiquer qu’une personne est en voie d’améliorer ses compétences, ses performances, etc. :
- Cet élève est en progrès.
Employée au sens d’« en cours », elle constitue un anglicisme calqué sur in progress. On dit correctement en cours ou en marche :
- une émission en cours d’exécution
- une émission en préparation
- une activité en marche
On emploie les verbes suivants avec le nom progrès :
- faire
- accomplir
- constater
- enregistrer
- réaliser
- remarquer
- observer
Le complément qui indique le domaine où se font des progrès peut être introduit par les prépositions dans ou en :
- progrès qui reprend dans un domaine
- faire des progrès marqués en mathématiques
