Le mot pourriel est un mot-valise formé à partir des mots POUbelle et couRRIEL, provenant de l’anglais junk e-mail. Un pourriel est un courriel importun ou sans intérêt, contenant la plupart du temps de la publicité, que l’on jette normalement à la corbeille.

Il a pour synonymes courriel-poubelle et courrier électronique poubelle.

L’anglicisme spam est à éviter.

  • J’ai reçu le même pourriel trois fois.
  • Il a pris mon message pour un pourriel!
