Le terme poteau d’incendie est à éviter.

On emploie plutôt borne d’incendie.

Au Canada, on utilise également borne-fontaine, qui constitue un canadianisme. Au pluriel, on écrit :

  • des bornes-fontaines

La borne d’incendie désigne une prise d’eau reliée à la canalisation publique intégrée dans une colonne ressemblant à une borne servant à l’approvisionnement en eau des pompiers ou des employés municipaux.
