Les termes huile à chauffage et huile à fournaise (ou huile de chauffage/fournaise) sont des calques de heating oil.
Le terme normalisé est mazout :
- Ils viennent livrer le mazout tous les mois.
- Le prix du mazout change d’une année à l’autre.
Il désigne le combustible utilisé pour le chauffage. Il n’est pas synonyme de pétrole brut.
Le terme fioul est employé en Europe seulement.
