C’est à tort qu’on appelle Hollande le territoire dont le nom officiel français est Pays-Bas.
Les Pays-Bas sont une monarchie de l’Europe du Nord, limitée à l’est par la République fédérale d’Allemagne, au sud par la Belgique, à l’ouest et au nord par la mer du Nord et divisée en douze provinces, dont la Hollande-Méridionale (ville principale : Rotterdam) et la Hollande-Septentrionale (ville principale : Amsterdam).
Les habitants du pays portent le nom de Néerlandais, Néerlandaise.
