Le verbe anglais to become n’a pas toujours besoin d’être traduit par devenir, tour peu naturel en français.
- Le 25 juillet 1909, Blériot effectua la première traversée de la Manche en aéroplane. (plutôt que : Blériot devint le premier homme à traverser la Manche en aéroplane)
- Le premier satellite artificiel fut lancé d’URSS le 4 octobre 1957. (plutôt que : l’URSS devint le premier pays du monde à lancer un satellite artificiel)
