Le verbe délivrer et le nom délivrance ne sont pas de simples synonymes de remettre et de remise.
Ils s’emploient dans un contexte administratif, officiel, juridique, pour évoquer l’action de donner, de remettre, mais seulement après l’accomplissement de certaines formalités.
Exemples de compléments avec délivrer
On dit correctement :
- délivrer un brevet, un certificat, un diplôme, un reçu, des titres, des papiers, des lettres patentes, une ordonnance, un mandat, une lettre recommandée, un passeport, un permis, une pièce d’identité, un billet d’avion, des marchandises consignées, une part d’héritage, un legs, des médicaments (ou : médicaments délivrés sur ordonnance)
