Dans le sens de facturer, le verbe charger est un calque de l’anglais to charge.
De même, l’expression charger à un compte est un calque de l’anglais to charge to an account.
On emploie plutôt, selon le contexte, les termes suivants :
- porter à un compte
- débiter un compte
- facturer
- demander
- coûter
Exemples
- Je porte l’achat à votre compte? (et non : C’est pour charger à votre compte?)
- Puisque c’est sa fête, je vais porter son repas à mon compte. (et non : je vais charger son repas à mon compte)
- Elle a oublié de facturer le café. (et non : de charger le café, de me facturer)
- Combien demande-t-il pour le lavage des conduits d’air? (et non : Combien charge-t-il…)
- Ça coûte maintenant 15 $ pour entrer sur le site! (et non : Ils chargent…)
