Welcome to the Discover module.
Let's go to Discover on the left menu of the Language Portal's home page.
Discover is a library of hyperlinks. It contains hundreds of links to quality Canadian sites. These hyperlinks are sorted into six broad categories on the left menu: Dictionaries and Publications, Languages in Canada, Language Training, Language Professions, Standardization and Francophonie.
To access the section's main page, click on Discover on the left menu. You can also access the six categories from this page.
Let's start with Dictionaries and Publications. This category contains dictionaries, style guides, tutorials and many other resources.
First, let's click on Databases. Here you'll find hyperlinks to various resources covering such subjects as geographical names, literacy and terminology.

Under Glossaries and Dictionaries, you'll find many hyperlinks to free reference works. There are two ways to search through the list: by title and by subject. Titles of works and subjects are listed alphabetically for your convenience. You can also click directly on your subject of interest.
Are you looking for Web sites on plain language? Or on writing, translation or revision tips? Under Tools for writers, you'll find the hyperlink to the style guide or reference work you need.
If you like to learn on your own, go to Tutorials. Here you'll find tutorials on such subjects as plain language and terminology. Below Tutorials, another link takes you to a bibliography of other useful reference works.
Let's go back to the left menu and click on Languages in Canada. This category focusses on official languages, Aboriginal languages and sign languages.
