In 2005, Statistics Canada published its first report on the Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey, a major initiative of the United Nations Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD). Literacy for Life is the second report on this important survey recently released by Statistics Canada. It presents additional information on the nature and magnitude of literacy gaps in the OECD countries surveyed, 11 in all. The report also sheds light on factors influencing the acquisition of adult literacy and life skills.
