“Our language brings us together” is the theme of the Nunavut Language Summit taking place in Iqaluit from February 9 to 12. One aim of the Summit is to promote and safeguard the Inuit language, making it a part of daily life in Nunavut. Participants will also discuss the protection of minority English and French language rights in the region. As host of the Summit, the Hon. Louis Tapardjuk, Nunavut’s Minister of Languages, will welcome representatives from Canada and other circumpolar regions as well as language specialists.
