Closer ties between New Brunswick and Louisiana

Linguistic Recommendations and Reminders

On August 14, New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham announced the signing of an agreement with Louisiana to promote the development of French in that state. Over 30,000 Louisiana students will soon be using a history text designed in New Brunswick when they study the history of the Acadians and Cajuns. In addition, bursaries of $2,500 each will be awarded to two young Louisiana residents to attend the summer French immersion program at the Université de Moncton.

Speaking in Caraquet, N. B., Premier Graham said that such cooperative activities offer advantages to both sides and demonstrate the mature relationship now enjoyed by New Brunswick and Louisiana. For the full story, see the Government of New Brunswick's press release (www).
