Freedom to Read Week

What do The Handmaid's Tale, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz and Lives of Girls and Women have in common? True, they're all Canadian literature. But did you know that each one has been targeted as a book to be banned from high school curricula? Censorship is an area of intellectual freedom that the Book and Periodical Council of Canada is encouraging Canadians to think about during Freedom to Read Week. From February 20–26, take part in one of the many events the Council is organizing across the country. Check out Freedom to Read (www) to see how you can get involved.
