Children judge best books

On May 26, students at Huttonville Public School in Brampton, Ontario, decide the winners of the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Awards. Who better than children themselves to decide what they like to read? Mordecai Richler won the first Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award in 1976 for Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang. Now each year two Canadian authors and artists of children’s books each win a $6,000 prize. To find out who are the nominees for 2010, read Eastern Canada sweeps nominations for children’s book awards.
