Proud elder passes on the Tlingit language

Emma Sam, a member of the Teslin Tlingit First Nation, received a Council of the Federation Literacy Award in September for her work in promoting literacy in the Tlingit language.

Emma, a former interpreter for the Yukon government, currently teaches Tlingit language classes in the Whitehorse area. She has also contributed to a Tlingit noun dictionary. Read more about Emma Sam and the Council of the Federation in Yukon elder honoured for Tlingit language work (www).
