Wanted: 150 southern Alberta English speakers

Do you eat « ehgs » instead of « aigs »? Bite into a jambuster rather than a jelly doughnut? Drink pop rather than soft drinks? If so, Nicole Rosen of the University of Lethbridge is looking for you. The associate professor of the Department of Modern Languages is researching a little-studied English accent—the western Canadian accent. For her study, she hopes to interview 150 southern Alberta anglophones before December 2011. To find out more, read Alberta linguist pays more than lip service to Prairie accent (www).
